Information

After finishing school in 1991 Jan Kossack worked for one year in the child and adolescent psychiatry in Freiburg /Germany. In 1992 he started studying psychology and at the same time he worked in a home for youth (http://www.helenenberg.de). In 1998 he graduated from the University and worked then as a psychologist in the same institution. The main work-fields were group and individual therapy for adolescents and young adults with their families.

From this time on he did trainings in several therapeutic directions: systemic therapy (SGST, http://www.sgst.de), treatment for people with sexual behavior problems (Ruud Bullens, NL), PART (Professional Assault Response Training, http://parttraining.com), coping with Trauma (http://www.psychotraumazentrum-kassel.de), Psychology and Law. Jan Kossack was responsible for the therapeutic work and was the head of the therapeutic section.

In 2007 he changed his activity area and began to work in the Forensic Psychiatry Haina/Germany and was Case Manager in the outpatient clinic (http://www.vitos-haina.de/haina/einrichtungen/forensisch-psychiatrische-ambulanz-hessen.html).

In 2008 Jan Kossack continued his professional career in Luxemburg. Since then he works in two areas:

  • Family Counseling / individual therapy with parents at the Centre thérapeutique Kannerhaus Jean 2008 - 2011 (www.croix-rouge.lu)
  • Family Counseling / individual therapy with children, adolescents and parents at the Erzéiongs- a Familljeberodung (www.afp-solidarite-famille.lu) and
  • Upgrade Your Life -  private practice in Luxemburg and in Barcelona

Also in 2008 he began his training in cognitive behavioral therapy at the AWKV Friedrichsdorf (http://www.awkv.de).

Further Trainings since then:

  • in 2008 he did a Train-the-Trainer-Workshop in parenting-competences (DKSB, http://www.sesk.de);
  • in 2009 he did a Train-the-Trainer-Workshop in stress-reduction (Prof. Kaluza, Marburg/Germany, http://www.gkm-institut.de) and since then he offers regularly workshops in stress-reduction;
  • 2009- 2010 he did a training in the Marte Meo- method and finished this training with the Marte-Meo-Therapist certificate (http://www.martemeo.com);
  • 2009 - 2013 he also did his diploma of advanced studies (DAS) in Forensic Science at the University of Zurich (CH) in cooperation with the IOT (http://www.iotschweiz.ch).
  • in 2010 he did a Train-the-Trainer-Workshop in the Reasoning and Rehabilitation 2 Program with Prof. Dr. R. Ross in Bern/CH (http://www.cognitivecentre.ca/rr2program) and since then he offers R & R 2 - workshops.

 

Impressed by Schema Therapy he wanted to learn more about this approach and joined several workshops in Frankfurt (http://www.schematherapie-frankfurt.de) and Basel/CH (http://www.upkbs.ch/apps/page.asp?Q=1390) in 2011.

2012 - 2014 he completed the International Training & Certification Program in Schema Therapy sponsored by the Schema Therapy Institutes of New York and New Jersey by Jeffrey Young, Ph.D. and Wendy Behary, MSW (http://www.schematherapy.com/id306.htm) with the advanced level of certification as a Schema Therapist by the ISST.

In 2013 and 2014 Jan Kossack participated in the curriculum for "Schema Therapy with children, adolescents and parents" at the Schema Therapy Institute in Cologne.

 

Jan Kossack is since 2018 also  Level 3 trained in the Gottman Method for Couples Counseling.
